    Substate Champions!

    South Central boys basketball punched their ticket to state in a 62-61 game win over Kiowa County. They will play for a state title in Dodge City.

    State Science Fair!

    SCMS and Comanche County was well represented this weekend at the Kansas State Science and Engineering Fair at Exploration Place.

    In their categories:

    Hannahlee Hurd 3rd in Materials Science

    Brynlee Murphy 2nd in Earth and Environmental Sciences

    Kason Valerius 1st Engineering Mechanics and statistical technology

    Saige Petty 1st Plant Science

    Sloan 1st Animal Sciences

    Also, Sloan was in the top 10% of participants (approximately 70 middles school entries) and won a bid to compete in the Thermo Fisher Scientific Junior Innovators Challenge, a national, virtual fair. Sloan also won 2nd place overall which came with a $250 cash prize.

    Boys Win League Tournament!

    The South-Central Boys Basketball team won the 2025 SPIAA League Tournament Saturday February 1st in Dodge City. Way to go T-WOLVES!

    Kg-4th grade celebrated Kansas Day yesterday! They had an awesome time learning about Kansas history and participating in lots of fun activities. Thank you to the community members and teachers for putting in the time for this event!

    Middle School Science Fair Winners!

    Middle school held their annual science fair this last week. Winners were: Overall Grand Champion and 8th Grade Class Champion is 8th Grader Kate Herd, Overall Reserve Grand and 7th Grade Class Champion is 7th Grader Kason Valerius, 8th Grade Class Reserve Champion is 8th Grader Jackson Snyder, and 7th Grade Class Reserve Champion is 7th Grader Emily Burt. Way to go SCMS students. There were over some great projects all around! SCMS students will also be competing in Regional Science fair January 25 in Liberal.

    Jim Blundell Recognized

    Jim Blundell was recognized at the basketball game on Jan. 14 to celebrate his retirement from head maintenance at SCHS. Jim has put in many years of service and is always there when needed. SCHS students and staff want to thank him for all he has done for South Central Schools and wishes him a great retirement!
